The New Africa Foundation has three core areas of social Investment
HIV/Aids
This focuses on establishing AIDS care groups, assisting clinics in counselling and skills development, providing home based care to people with Aids and supporting children's homes. Education
This part of the foundation focuses on providing literacy classes to adults and street children, the development of skills to enable people to start their own company or to find work as well as assisting schools. The foundation will assist schools where the children cannot afford to buy books, pens etc. by providing them with teaching aids.
Community Upliftment
Here the foundation focuses on most activities which results in the upliftment of a community. One section here is the life enrichment programmes which assist people in troubled relationships or traumatic domestic situations. Other sections include:
feeding schemes which provide meals to people in very needy areas and in schools,
the provision of food, clothing and shelter to street children
a halfway house that cares for children who have been taken away from their parents until they can be placed in a children's home or foster care, and
looking after elderly people in the community by providing retirement homes with appropriate facilities and equipment.
