Director's comments
Thank you so much to all of you who have made donations and contributed to the Foundation. We strive in all we do to reach for justice and righteousness. I fundamentally believe that the souls and actions of individuals need to be guided by an internal system of values which, as a Foundation, we have striven to speak into and impact.

We also believe that as values are impacted, people will act and challenge the evils of society. Thank you for helping us along this journey as we make an impact on the communities which we serve.

This year we look forward to Ed Ngake stepping up as Project Manager at Plot 8. It is also exciting that Gillian Morrison will be coming on board as an administrator. All these developments, plus the incredible leadership that we receive from Liberty Church, are great for the Foundation.
Look forward to engaging further with you in 2008.

Aloysias Maimane
Managing Director
Plans for this year include:

Issuing of ID Books and Social Welfare Grants
The Foundation has always maintained good working relationships with the local council and the social workers in Region C (previously known as Region 5). One of the projects which will commence early in 2008 will be to assist individuals which fall under our projects to obtain their ID books so that they can apply for grants (e.g. old age pension, disability or child support) and to register them with the local council in order for them to receive assistance in the form of food parcels. This project will be carried out for the community at Plot 8, the people who attend the soup kitchen and the members of the Ntirisano support group.

Power at Plot 8
During 2007, The New Africa Foundation received a large donation from Anglo American for the installation of power at Plot 8. It is envisaged that solar power will be installed, which will run equipment at the Nurse’s Station, plus provide lights for the Community Centre
.

Happenings in 2007…

Visitors from Australia
The New Africa Foundation has, in 2007, hosted two groups of Australian visitors from Coastlife Church and Lakes City Church who came to Johannesburg to work in the projects and to see for themselves what the Foundation does for the people who it serves. Both groups worked exceptionally hard during their visits and completed the following projects:

Planted grass outside the Community Centre at Plot 8
Replanted the vegetable garden at Plot 8 with spinach, carrot, onion and potato seeds
Cleared weeds and rubble away from the fence of the vegetable garden
Repaired the fence around the nursery school at Plot 8 and planted grass
Distributed food parcels to orphans at Plot 8
Took children from St Laurence Children’s Haven to the Krugersdorp Game Reserve for an outing
Took children from Ikholwa to the Lion Park
Assisted in the Kitchen of Blessing

The visits from the Aussies could not have been made possible without the generous sponsorship of a bus by Isuzu Truck SA, and sponsorship of insurance for the bus by Imperial Fleet Services.

Donation of a Vehicle
The New Africa Foundation has, for the past number of years, been in need of a vehicle to transport food parcels to Plot 8 and the Rex Street and Davidsonville Clinics, and to take members of the community to hospital. A bakkie has been donated to the Foundation and Edward Ngake, who works closely with the community at Plot 8 and at the soup kitchen, is in the process of obtaining his driver’s licence so that he can make use of the vehicle on the Foundation’s behalf.

Blanket and Food Distribution
The Foundation distributed 1,000 blankets and approximately 900 bags of mealie meal and maize porridge to the residents of Plot 8. In addition, 80 blankets were distributed at the soup kitchen and we were able to provide Polokego with blankets for their residents.
